Privacy Policy

Xerten.ai (“Xerten,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a medication management application designed to help individuals maintain accurate information about their medications. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect and share that information when you use Xerten.

1. Information We Collect

When you create and use a Xerten account, we may collect:

Account Information

• Name

• Email address

• Date of birth

Medication Information

• Medication names

• Brand and generic medication information

• Dose and strength

• Frequency

• Route and administration instructions

• Medication status

• Medication history

• Information generated during medication comparison and reconciliation

Xerten does not currently collect or maintain other medical information such as diagnoses, laboratory results, clinical notes, insurance information, or payment information.

2. Medication Photographs and Barcode Information

Xerten allows users to photograph medication labels and scan product barcodes to assist with medication identification and data entry.

Medication photographs may be processed to extract information from the medication label. Xerten does not retain these photographs after processing.

When a product barcode is scanned, the barcode number may be submitted to a third-party product database to identify the corresponding product. Xerten currently uses UPCitemdb for this purpose. The barcode lookup does not intentionally include the user's name, email address, date of birth, medication record, or medication photograph.

3. How We Use Information

We use information collected through Xerten to:

• Create and maintain your Xerten account.

• Maintain your medication list and medication history.

• Identify medications from information you provide.

• Compare medication information and identify potential discrepancies.

• Generate medication-related summaries and information for user review.

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Xerten.

• Protect the security and integrity of the service.

Xerten is designed to assist users in maintaining medication information. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

4. Artificial Intelligence

Xerten uses artificial intelligence to assist with processing and interpreting medication-related information.

Medication-related information may be processed using services provided by OpenAI. AI-generated results are used to assist with medication identification, extraction, comparison, and reconciliation.

AI-generated information may contain errors. Xerten incorporates user or human review into medication workflows and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for medical decisions.

5. Service Providers

Xerten currently relies on third-party service providers necessary to operate the application, including:

• Google Firebase for authentication, database, and application infrastructure.

• OpenAI for artificial-intelligence processing.

• UPCitemdb for barcode-based product identification.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their respective services.

We do not authorize these service providers to use Xerten user information for Xerten advertising or marketing purposes.

6. Advertising and Sale of Personal Information

Xerten does not currently display advertising.

We do not sell users' personal information.

We do not share users' personal or medication information with third parties for targeted advertising or marketing purposes.

7. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information maintained through Xerten.

However, no electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should therefore understand that absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

8. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain account and medication information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Xerten and maintain the user's account, subject to applicable legal requirements.

Users may initiate deletion of their Xerten account directly within the Xerten application. When an account is deleted, Xerten deletes the user's account authentication information and associated personal data maintained by Xerten, including the user's profile information, medication records, and medication history.

9. Children's Privacy

Xerten is not intended for use by children without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children in violation of applicable law. If we learn that personal information from a child has been collected improperly, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Xerten develops, including when we introduce new features or change how information is processed.

When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice when appropriate.
